Apple will use its CPUs to power AI servers

Apple plans to employ data centers powered by its own in-house CPUs to offer some of its future artificial intelligence features this year. This is in line with the company’s efforts to include generative AI in its devices.

As the manufacturer of iPhones strives to include generative AI into its devices, Apple (AAPL.O) will deliver some of its future artificial intelligence features this year through data centers powered by its own in-house CPUs.

The report, which quoted people with knowledge of the situation, claimed that the corporation is investing in cloud computing servers that can handle complex AI operations that will be delivered to Apple devices.

The report stated that the chips are comparable to those that drive Apple’s Mac computers and that simpler AI-related operations will be handled on-device.

About three years ago, the idea to use its own chips and cloud processing for AI jobs was hatched, but Apple moved quickly after the release of OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Apple unveiled the M4, its next-generation chipset that will power the next iPad Pro devices and support some AI features, earlier this week.
