Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has appointed Rajesh Gopinathan, former CEO of TCS, as a senior advisor to the technology, media, and telecom (TMT) practice, sources in the know confirmed. Gopinathan will be advising in the capacity of an external consultant.

The IT services industry was surprised by Gopinathan’s sudden resignation in March. During Gopinathan’s six-year stint, the company added over $10 billion in incremental revenues at $25.8 billion and over $70 billion in market capitalization to $140 billion.

The exit was timed in a way that his successor K Krithivasan could take over at the start of the next fiscal year, Gopinathan had said in March.

Gopinathan is likely to stay in a part-time role before he plans his next venture or stint, as he has been planning out his future course of action, an HR expert said on the condition of anonymity.
