India, October 17, 2023: BharatRohan, a pioneering agri-tech startup specialising in UAV/drone spectral imaging-based decision support systems (DSS) for farmers, is thrilled to announce a strategic collaboration with ABI-ICRISAT, the Agri-Business Incubator of ICRISAT. This dynamic alliance marks a significant milestone in the field of agricultural technology, poised to revolutionise crop monitoring through hyperspectral technology.
In this partnership with ABI-ICRISAT, BharatRohan will have the opportunity to gain access to the state-of-the-art research facilities at ICRISAT to strengthen their SeedAssure® service offering for plant breeders. SeedAssure®s provides in-depth drone-based data insights to plant breeders to help them perform hybrid evaluation trials and high-throughput phenotyping experiments. They capture parameters like plant height, plant canopy cover, panicle formation, days of flowering, disease severity, water stress, and chlorophyl content using drones. Breeders use this data to develop crop varieties that possess specific traits like drought and disease tolerance. Drones help in collecting this data with minimum human intervention, errors, and bias, with a resolution of 5 cm/pixel and an accuracy of around 95%.
Through ABI-ICRISAT, BharatRohan will also connect with Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), thereby providing drone crop monitoring services, uplifting farmers’ livelihoods, and ensuring a resilient and sustainable food supply chain.
