Sanjay Verma has joined Akums India as the Digital Transformation Group Chief Information Officer (CIO). He joins his new role after serving as the Chief Information Officer of Somany Ceramics. In his past experiences, he has worked with leading companies such as Alps Industries LTD, standard charted bank and spent over nine years as the IT head for J&K Laxmi cement.
Akums, which holds 11 to 12 per cent shares of the overall drugs consumed in the country, is among the re-known contract manufacturing pharmaceutical (CMRP) companies in India. It is considered the trusted manufacturing partner for its clients and operates 2000 brands under its flag. It also offers advanced technology in drug manufacturing to the largest pharmaceutical firms.
Moving to the pharma industry for the first time as the Chief Information Officer, he says, “It is my first time working with a pharma company. The current assignment was challenging for me since pharma is a very regulated industry. When I say regulated, it requires a lot of documentation and, making mistakes cannot be ignored. Nevertheless, I am excited to work here as it falls under a novel cause for the nation”.
