Cloudflare signals expansion in Asian region

To bring more bucks through the Cloudflare door, another role, titled “Regional Major Account Executive – Gaming and Online Casino” gets the job of working with “iGaming and Online Casino related companies across APAC”

Cloudflare, as a beachhead has signalled significant expansion into the Asia-Pacific, Japan, and China, using Singapore.

A raft of job ads have been spotted from the net-grooming company, among them a “Head of Expansion, APJC” whose job will be to manage a clutch of expansion-oriented salespeople in pursuit of new business.

To bring more bucks through the Cloudflare door, another role, titled “Regional Major Account Executive – Gaming and Online Casino” gets the job of working with “iGaming and Online Casino related companies across APAC”.

To serve greater China, three of new roles of Cloudflare require spoken Mandarin or Cantonese, a signal the company intends to do business remotely in the Middle Kingdom.

Cloudflare said, it is currently “prioritising hiring in Singapore and, overall, globally”.

The new ads follow Cloudflare’s August 2021 appointment of Jonathon Dixon as its president for the region, the September 2021 hiring of Satyen Desai to run Southeast Asia and Korea, and the January 2022 arrival of Tomonari Sato to lead the company’s Japan operations.

While the company certainly appears to believe that customers will welcome its expansion, Asia’s regional internet registry APNIC has twice recently voiced concerns that the internet’s big players are writing rules for global internetworking to suit their own needs and making the net less open in the process.
