Coinbase says services resumed following disruption that affected trading accounts

Coinbase Global reported that all services on its website had been resumed following a problem earlier in the day that caused some customers’ accounts to show zero balance.

Coinbase Global (COIN.O), which opens in a new tab, announced on Wednesday that all services on its website had been restored following an issue earlier in the day that led some customers to see zero balance across their accounts.

“Very few clients may still have an incorrect balance on their accounts. “Our team is working to resolve this display issue for these users,” the cryptocurrency exchange stated in a statement on social media site X.

Earlier in the day, Coinbase informed consumers that trading was improving and their money was safe.

The interruption at Coinbase occurs after bitcoin topped $60,000 on Wednesday for the first time in more than two years, as a frenzy of funds into new U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded products drove a price boom.

Traders have flooded into bitcoin ahead of April’s halving event, which is supposed to halt the cryptocurrency’s production.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated in a separate post on X that the cryptocurrency exchange was experiencing a significant increase in traffic.

According to Downdetector, user complaints of difficulties peaked on Wednesday afternoon at more than 9,000. As of 1213 GMT on Thursday, the number of reported difficulties had reduced to roughly 28.
