Google launches Gemini Live free for Android users with ten more voices

With 10 additional voices, Google has started making Gemini Live available to Android users for free. Originally released in August for Gemini Advanced customers, it is currently completely accessible to everyone in English.

“Live is now available for all Gemini users in English on the Android app. We can’t wait for you to try it,” announced the Google Gemini App account in a post on X.

Gemini Live allows users to have discussions with Gemini that mimic real-world interactions. The Gemini overlay or app’s bottom-right corner is where you may access the functionality. According to 9to5Google, the user interface will fill the screen and have buttons for “Hold” and “End” at the bottom. It is also possible to close the app and have Gemini Live keep running in the background. By speaking “stop” or swiping down to view notifications, users can end the session.

According to reports, the discussions come with a text transcript that shows the user’s suggestions and Gemini’s responses and lets users resume where they left off. Although Live does not yet enable Gemini Extensions for real-time chat access to services like Gmail and YouTube Music, this feature—along with camera functionality—is coming soon as part of Project Astra. In the future, Google intends to integrate Gemini Live into the iOS app. To start receiving updates, users can also force-stop the Gemini app.
