To increase awareness and access to global best practices, India Blockchain Forum will open membership to all stakeholders and shall also create community chapters across the country

On Sunday, the India Blockchain Forum was formally launched at T-Hub, Hyderabad by Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Industry & Commerce and IT, Government of Telangana.

India Blockchain Forum was started as an informal group of key influencers of the blockchain ecosystem in the country.

What began as an informal group of key influencers of the Indian Blockchain ecosystem, it now has more than 40 key influencers. With the formal launch, which happened on Sunday, the India Blockchain Forum intends to set up special interest groups in areas like central bank digital currency (CBDC), Metaverse and policy framework for effective blockchain adoption, said a release on Monday.

To help build a holistic framework for its right adoption, the Forum envisages a collaboration model with governments, Regulators, Industry, and academia with a vision to make India a global hub for Blockchain and Web3.0.

In creating an all-inclusive platform for scaling the adoption of blockchain technology, IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan appreciated the collective effort of the Forum team.

He also announced the launch of a web3.0 regulatory sandbox soon, to allow startups to build solutions around tokenization, NFTs, and similar new frontiers by the Telangana government.

“This sandbox will help create a meaningful dialogue amongst all the stakeholders including regulators, startups, and policymakers to arrive at a nuanced approach in evolving an effective web3.0 framework,” he said.

India Blockchain Forum has created a comprehensive ten-point agenda and shall serve as a unified platform for – Build India Blockchain Stack, Policy advocacy, Accelerate startups Ecosystem, Support blockchain Technology companies, Create a Talent pool, Collaborate with Academia, Global Collaboration, and more.

The five member founding team of the India Blockchain Forum includes industry stalwarts- Prasanna Lohar, CEO, Block Stack, Pankaj Diwan, Founder & CEO, Idealabs FutureTech Ventures, Col Inderjit Singh, Chief Cyber Security Officer, Vara Technologies, Sharat Chandra, Blockchain Evangelist, and Srinivas Mahankali, Chief Business Officer, Secure Kloud Technologies.

Related to blockchain including the National Blockchain Strategy document released by MEITY, Government of India in 2021, the founding members have been contributing to multiple initiatives, the release said.

Commenting on an MoU signed between India Blockchain Forum and SucSeed Indovation, Prasanna Lohar, Co-founder and President of India Blockchain Forum said, “SucSeed Indovation will provide funding to startups discovered by India Blockchain Forum and the key influencers of India Blockchain Forum will mentor the startups invested by SucSeed indovation.”

For effective blockchain adoption, the forum, which has 40 key influencers, is is setting up Special Interest Groups (SIGs) in areas such as CBDC, Metaverse, Policy framework etc.
