Information security: Manish Pandey joins Airtel Payments Bank as CISO

Pandey, in his current role will be responsible for introducing, implementing, and maintaining safe information security practices to strengthen the security framework for the bank

Airtel Payments Bank has appointed Manish Pandey as the CISO, who until recently served at Paytm Payments Bank as an Assistant General Manager-Cyber and Information Security.

The digital payments firm released a statement that Pandey will be spreadheading the information and cyber security practice at Airtel Payments Bank and will be reporting to the firm’s Chief Risk Officer, Pradeep Rangi.

Airtel Payments Bank says that Pandey, in his current role will be responsible for introducing, implementing, and maintaining safe information security practices to strengthen the security framework for the bank. “He will also lead the regulatory engagement, governance, and audit matters pertaining to information security at the bank,” the company adds.

IIIT-Allahabad alumni, Pandey accrued close to 4.5 years of experience leading digital banking and fin-tech cyber security at Paytm Payments Bank. He joined the company in January 2018 as Manager-Information and Cyber security. In three years he was promoted to the position of Asst. GM-Cyber and Information Security.

Pandey, prior to his stint in the fin-tech space, was an active team member for the cybersecurity drill conducted by CERT-In for critical government organizations. For auditee organizations in India, he also played a key role in the preparation and review of IT security auditing guidelines. In addition to this, Pandey was an active member of the Indo-US cybersecurity drill conducted by CERT-In and CERT-US.

With a 12-year plus tenure, Pandey gained experience across different sectors with expertise in IT and cyber security, cyber law, and data protection. He brings with him years of expertise in not just the enterprise security and governance space, but in academia as well. Pandey began his career as a lecturer at Bareilly-based Invertis University.
