INTRO Technology and Oman Data Park plan to develop Kemet Data Centre in SCZONE for $450 million

With a focus on technological solutions and digital transformation, INTRO Technology, the technology division of INTRO Holding and the parent company of Advansys and Forte Cloud, announced the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oman Data Park, a data centre and cloud service provider in Oman, to establish Kemet Data Centre in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).

The $450 million Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration between the two firms, with the goal of offering cloud solutions, Internet of Things (IoT), and digital transformation to regional and global markets, especially those in Africa and the Middle East.

Kemet Data Centre, which will be built in two stages and occupy more than 80,000 square meters, will be situated in the SCZONE.

Large businesses in need of cost-effective advanced cloud data capabilities, such as dynamic scalability, faster data processing, and improved latency—all crucial for enhancing user experience—will find the centre to be an indispensable and key asset. Egypt’s sophisticated infrastructure, coupled with its strategic location, would enable enterprises to operate their regional and worldwide operations on a highly secure and efficient platform.

To ensure that the project is completed effectively, Advansys will house the data centre’s specialists and experts. It will handle all facets through its Centre of Excellence, including the importing of hardware and equipment, design, and legal processes, enabling the collaboration to proceed more quickly with the kickoff phase.

Data centre projects are among the services targeted for attractiveness to the region to address the growing demand for cloud services, the Internet of Things (IoT), and digital transformation, according to Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairperson of the SCZONE.

He emphasised that Kemet Data Centre intends to localise an important service industry and is the first of its kind in the SCZONE’s data centre sector. This will make use of the Zone’s advantageous locations on the Red and Mediterranean Seas as well as its proximity to the banks of the Suez Canal, which is home to a sizable amount of the region’s undersea communications cables.

Gamal El-Din further noted the continued cooperation and coordination between the economic zone and other necessary authorities in the state, led by the Ministry of Communication & Information Technology (MCIT) and the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA).

Commenting on the significance of the MoU, Mamdouh Abbas, the founder and chairperson of INTRO Holding, stated: “This partnership represents a pivotal step in INTRO Technology’s strategic journey to expand its technological projects in the Middle East and Africa. By collaborating with Oman Data Park, we combine our expertise in cloud solutions with their proven track record of success in cloud and data centre services.

Maqbool Al Wahaibi, CEO of Oman Data Park, stated: “The joint investment opportunities and our collaborative approach will support the growth and innovation in the Middle East and its economic development. We look forward to working together to provide digital solutions through advanced data centres that meet the growing needs of companies worldwide to establish a presence in the region.”

Complete commercial services will be offered by Oman Data Park, which will include managing operations, supervising the design, and offering advice on the building of the centre. Oman Data Park, with its solid position and track record, is in favour of starting this big project and expanding its cutting-edge capabilities.

Kemet Data Centre will serve the region’s expanding needs for digital transformation, cloud services, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Egypt’s excellent location—hosting a substantial amount of the region’s underwater cables—positions it as a crucial hub for international companies as businesses hunt for affordable, secure, and scalable data storage options.
