Meta has announced the launch of a premium verification service to offer the Blue Badge on profiles

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has announced the launch of a premium verification service to offer blue badges on profiles. Subscription to this service starts at $11.99 (around Rs 991) per month on the web and $14.99 (around Rs 1,239) per month on the iOS platform. Paid users can get their profile verified with a government ID. This week, the service will be made available in Australia and New Zealand for the first time.

Special features of Meta’s paid subscription

Along with profile verification, subscription services for Instagram and Facebook provide added security and direct access to customer support.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote on his Instagram’s Meta channel, “Good morning! New product announcement: This week we’re launching the Meta Verified subscription service that allows you to use a government ID to verify your identity.” Also lets you verify your account, earn a Blue Badge, get additional impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support. This new feature is designed to enhance the authenticity and security of our services. Meta Verified starts at $11.99/month on web and $14.99/month on iOS. We’ll be rolling out to Australia and New Zealand this week, and more countries soon.”

Although Meta has not yet given additional information about this service, Meta Verified will only be available for verifying profiles and not pages. A screenshot of an alleged policy page was shared on Twitter by the tech portal on Saturday to support the claim. It read, “You can subscribe to Meta Verify to get a verified badge for your profile. Do note, Meta Verify is only available for verifying Profiles, not Pages. Notable Pages still applying for Verify Badge can do.”

Before Meta, Twitter has started charging premium under Twitter Blue Subscription which provides Blue Tick to the customers. The paid service for Indian users is offered as ₹650 and ₹900 per month on website and mobile respectively.
