MoD is organizing a ‘Chintan Shivir’ to discuss various issues and challenges in national and cybersecurity, capacity building, and defence procurement
A ‘Chintan Shivir’ to discuss various issues and challenges on national and cybersecurity, capacity building, and defence procurement faced by the departments of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) is being organized by the MoD. The ‘Chintan Shivir’ (brainstorming session) is scheduled to happen in New Delhi on June 19 and 20 with the aim of coming up with new ideas for better governance and functioning.
A number of themes on which eminent subject matter experts will share their views with officers of the Ministry have been identified by the Department of Defence (DoD), Department of Defence Production (DDP), Department of Military Affairs (DMA), and Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW).
According to the release from the Ministry, the DoD will deliberate on the following topics:
- A comprehensive approach to national security
- Cybersecurity challenges
- National information security policy and guidelines
- Performance audit
- Sainik school education system
- Capacity building in defence acquisitions
The DDP will have discussions on the following themes:
- Enhancing production and defence exports
- Increasing Atma Nirbharta: Road ahead for Indigenization
- Industrial ecosystem and skilled workforce
- Enhancing a level playing field
- Quality reforms
The topics chosen by the DMA will cover the following critical issues:
- Integration and optimisation of human resources
- Training and operational issues for achieving greater synergy, modernization, and capability augmentation of the armed forces in the realms of the strategic domain
- Measures for identifying and abolishing colonial practises and obsolete laws
- Measures for incorporating the country’s own ethos and practises into the functioning of the armed forces.
The themes for discussion identified by DESW include the following:
- Leveraging SPARSH for better pension services and other welfare measures for veterans
- Resettlement of veterans by improving employability and promotion of entrepreneurship for the start of microenterprises by veterans
- Improvement in the health services of the veterans
