Nigeria and the United Kingdom (UK) have partnered to fight cybercrime as part of a larger strategic alliance.

This was said at a recent high-level roundtable conference in Abuja that concentrated on ways to improve Nigeria’s digital resilience and fight cyberthreats.

Industry experts from the public and private sectors attended the event, which was hosted at the Office of the President’s National Security Adviser.

Leading the conversation, Kashifu Inuwa, director-general of the National Information Technology Development Agency, emphasized the importance of bolstering Nigeria’s cyber security framework.

He emphasized that both economic growth and national security depend on Nigeria’s cyber security resiliency.

According to Inuwa, the program aims to boost Nigeria’s cyber security resilience and create new growth prospects by promoting collaboration between Nigerian and UK companies.

Similarly, at an event organized by the Ministry of Communications, Innovations, and the Digital Economy and supported by Galaxy Backbone and the World Bank, James Carroll, the cyber head for West Africa for the British High Commission, urged cooperation.

Caroll said: “The UK’s strategy focuses on engaging its young, tech-savvy population to teaching digital skills, promoting cyber security careers and creating a digital pipeline.

“Nigeria, with its youthful demographic, can adopt similar approaches like educating kids on cyber security, encouraging tech enthusiasm and developing digital literacy.”
