Over 600 Indians who were trapped by cyber gang in Cambodia returned back

According to the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), gangs targeting Indians in cybercrime have rescued and repatriated over 600 Indians from Cambodia, where they were working fraudulent jobs using dating, gaming, and investment apps, among other apps.

Investigated by a number of organizations, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the fictitious job scam with an “international footprint” turned up evidence of the involvement of Sudarshan Darade, the CEO of Laos-based Long Sheng Company. He was charged earlier this week after being taken into custody by the Mumbai branch of the NIA in June.

“The company would conduct WhatsApp interviews and send appointment letters to the youth, who, on reaching the destination, were forced to commit online crypto currency frauds. Darade has also revealed names of another wanted accused, Sunny Gonsalves, as well as foreign nationals Niu Niu and Elvis Du, who are still absconding,” the NIA said.

It stated that Jacob would make arrangements for the transportation of young Indian people to the Golden Triangle in Laos per Darade’s instructions. According to the agency, the inquiry revealed that the trafficked adolescents’ unwillingness to participate in cyber fraud in the Golden Triangle resulted in their malnutrition and beatings in locked rooms. According to the report, several young people were even shocked with electricity if they didn’t reach their goals of making friends with potential victims on social media.
