Jaju’s appointment (1992 batch) becomes more significant in light of the government’s push to showcase its accomplishments to the public before the Lok Sabha elections.
The government named Sanjay Jaju, an IAS officer from Telangana cadre, as the new information and broadcasting (I&B) secretary on Saturday. Apurva Chandra, the current I&B secretary, who was also in charge of health, has been named the next health secretary.
After the state’s leadership changed, Sudhansh Pant, the previous chief secretary, returned to Rajasthan, giving Chandra, an IAS officer from the Maharashtra cadre, more responsibility as health secretary.
Jaju’s appointment (1992 batch) becomes more significant in light of the government’s push to showcase its accomplishments to the public before the Lok Sabha elections. After a 15-month hiatus, Jaju, who is currently serving in Telangana, returns to the center.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet also authorized the assignment of eight additional senior officers to the Lokpal anti-corruption ombudsman and several central government agencies. After retiring as the chief secretary of Uttarakhand last month, S. S. Sandhu (IAS-1998) has been appointed secretary to Lokpal on a one-year appointment. The secretary of the ministry of cooperation would be Assam-Meghalaya cadre Ashish Kumar Bhutani (IAS-1992).
Raj Kumar Goyal, UT cadre IAS of the 1990 batch, has been named secretary of the department of border management, while Niten Chandra, secretary of legal affairs, will now be secretary of the department of ex-servicemen welfare. Under the home ministry, K. Moses Chalai, a Manipur cadre member, has been appointed secretary of the Inter State Council Secretariat.
