Balakrishnan’s role will unify the management and growth strategies of both the in-house brands under Duroflex Group
Shridhar Balakrishnan has been appointed as the group CEO of Duroflex Group, the in-house brand Duroflex, a leading name in sleep and comfort solutions category announced. This move is aligned to the company’s vision of transitioning from a family-run business to a more corporate and professionally managed organisation.
Balakrishnan’s role will unify the management and growth strategies of both the in-house brands under Duroflex Group – Duroflex and Sleepyhead. Balakrishnan is well-positioned to lead this transition within the company, as he has worked previously in various leadership roles in professionally managed promoter-owned businesses.
The company aims to streamline decision-making processes and further synergise the collective strengths of the brands by consolidating leadership under one executive. Balakrishnan, through his strategic leadership will also guide Duroflex toward its vision of becoming a publicly listed empire in the years ahead.
Balakrishnan’s career includes successful stints in change management, leading large multicultural teams, and navigating the complexities of scaling and managing businesses. He began his career at Marico, where he dedicated 17 years and grew to the role of chief operating officer for clusters across South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Balakrishnan, during his tenure at Marico, managed the P&L of international business units, overseeing sales, business finance and supply chain for the India business. Then, at Star India, he took on the position of president and head of distribution, after which he served as the MD and CEO at ACC Cement.
Commenting on his appointment, Mathew Chandy, CMD, Duroflex, says, “As we continue to grow and scale, it is critical for us to transition into a more professionally run organisation, bringing in outside experience and perspective. With Sridhar’s leadership, we are confident in taking Duroflex to a larger playing field, solidifying our position as a key player in the industry.”
