The new CEO and Managing Director of the automotive company Stellantis is Shailesh Hazela. Aditya Jairaj will pass over the role to Hazela, as he is leaving to move to the US.
Shailesh Hazela has been named as the new CEO and Managing Director of Stellantis, an automotive business. Aditya Jairaj, who is leaving to move to the US, will hand off the position to Hazela. The handoff of duties between Jairaj and Hazela will continue until the middle of July. Hazela, who was formerly Stellantis’ Vice President of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain for India and Asia Pacific, provides a wealth of knowledge and a track record of fostering innovation and growth. Hazela has been committed to growing the Stellantis supply chain in the IAP area and optimizing the supply base throughout India, ASEAN, Korea, Japan, and other markets since joining the company in September 2022.
Hazela has over 28 years of experience in a variety of industries, such as automobiles, telecommunications, and trains. She also has a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and a master’s degree in business administration. “We warmly welcome Shailesh Hazela as our new CEO and MD and extend our gratitude to Aditya for his leadership and contributions to Stellantis India,” said Ashwani Muppasani, COO of Stellantis India & Asia Pacific. Shailesh’s vast experience and strategic acumen will be essential in promoting innovation and growth in the Indian market. We are completely confident that Shailesh will steer the organization toward long-term, profitable growth.
Hazela expressed his feelings about the appointment by saying, “It is an immense privilege to be the leader of Stellantis in India. In the global automotive business, our renowned brands have set standards, and I’m dedicated to upholding and expanding this legacy. I sincerely thank Aditya Jairaj for his accomplishments, and I promise to work with our amazing teams and partners to promote long-term growth. I’m looking forward to strengthening our position in both the established and developing transportation markets and boosting technological innovation.
At the moment, Stellantis runs two R&D centers in Chennai and Pune, an ICT hub in Hyderabad, a software center in Bengaluru, and three manufacturing units in Rajangaon, Hosur, and Thiruvallur. India is the only nation outside of North America that produces four Jeep nameplates (Wrangler, Compass, Meridian, and Grand Cherokee) and the Citroën C5 Aircross outside of France. The company’s “Make in India” campaign is still in effect.
