According to an internal memo, Microsoft’s senior marketing officer for Xbox is leaving the company to become the chief marketing officer of the gaming platform Roblox.

As part of a larger marketing shakeup at the console maker, Microsoft’s (MSFT.O) senior marketing officer for Xbox is departing the firm to join the gaming platform Roblox (RBLX.N) as its chief marketing officer, according to an internal memo on Monday.

According to a message from Microsoft gaming CEO Phil Spencer, Jerret West handled the development and implementation of several marketing campaigns, including those for games and consoles. He also assisted in the expansion of products, such as Xbox’s Game Pass subscription program.

Before leaving to join Netflix (NFLX.O.) and launch a new tab to lead many marketing teams, West worked for Xbox for eight years in the company’s product and marketing division. In 2019, he rejoined Microsoft as the chief marketing officer for Xbox.

Microsoft conducted its annual Xbox Games Showcase earlier this month. In an effort to pique consumer interest against overall industry spending difficulties, the company showed new all-digital consoles and game trailers, including the upcoming “Call of Duty” release.

With the formation of a central gaming marketing team and the reorganization of several other marketing teams, West’s departure coincides with a larger reorganization inside Xbox’s marketing division.

“Going forward, the Gaming Leadership Team and I have decided to place marketing closer to the businesses they support,” Spencer wrote in his memo.

As a cost-cutting measure, Microsoft also closed down other game studios in May, including Arkane Austin and combined teams.
