President Xi Jinping of China has urged for a boost in efforts to develop breakthroughs in essential technologies.

In the midst of tensions with the United States, China’s President Xi Jinping has called for increased efforts to develop breakthroughs in essential technology.

Xi underlined the goal of modernizing China’s supply chains, creating advanced manufacturing, and strategic emerging sectors during a speech on boosting the growth of the Yangtze River economic belt, according to media reports.

Faced with rising technology restrictions imposed by the US, President Xi has consistently emphasized the importance of technological self-reliance in order to limit the use of foreign technology.

As per media reports, Xi stated that provinces and cities along the Yangtze River must bear responsibility for food, energy, and supply chain security.

According to Xi, the regions should strengthen energy cooperation, promote clean and efficient coal use, prioritize hydropower, and integrate traditional energy with modern energy such as wind power.
