Mano Thangaraj expressed his hope that Umagine-Chennai 2023 initiative will position Tamil Nadu in the global arena as the tech and IT destination for enterprises

Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister M K Stalin, the Tamil Nadu government is strive-hard to restore the lost glory in technology development sector during the last 10 years under the AIADMK ruling, said the Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services T Mano Thangaraj.

The government is taking steps to make the state as Digital Hub in Medicine, Education, Agriculture sectors and also digitization of government departments, said the minister at ‘Umagine Catalyst’, a road show event, where the minister participated as a Chief Guest. ‘Umagine Catalyst’ was held at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, ahead of the global expo ‘Umagine Chennai’ organized by the Ministry of Information Technology and Digital Services.

Mano Thangaraj expressed his hope that Umagine-Chennai 2023 initiative will position Tamil Nadu in the global arena as the tech and IT destination for enterprises and to bring all the stakeholders together to ensure the progress in adoption of information technology in emerging sectors.

He called up the students to undertake research and fine innovative solution in IT, ITEs and farming sectors.

In the state during the last financial year, a sum of Rs. 1 lakh and 76 crore revenue was generated from IT, ITEs sectors, he said.

The minister inaugurated the discussion programme between industry captains and students at the event.

The state has top-class infrastructure and abundant talent skills among all the states in the country, he added.

Tamil Nadu is a safe haven for the women and girl children, the minister further said.

Sathyabama Techology Business Incubator programme

Addressing at the event, Dr.Mariazeena Johnson, Chancellor Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology explained in detail about the focus of Sathyabama Technology Business Incubator in promoting startups and its recognition from Startup India with Rs.5 crore under Startup India Seed Fund scheme to support the eligible startups in scaling their innovations.

Sivarajah Ramanathan, Mission Director & CEO, Tamil Nadu Startup & Innovation Mission explained the initiatives taken by Startup TN to promote the Startups in emerging technologies and allied sectors.

More startups should come up with best ideas as the funding support is available in all the sectors, emphasized Mr. Arjun Reddy in his special address.

‘Umagine Chennai’ with the theme “Leave the future behind” is scheduled to be held from March 23 to 25 at Trade Centrem Nandambakkam in Chennai.
