Collaborating with others to meet your technology goals is beneficial because it allows different professional strengths and disciplines to work together

When asked how he planned his career path to be a successful technology leader, Anand Jain, Head of Information Technology Services at Deepak Group Co., in an exclusive interview with CIO News, said, “To be a successful technology leader in the industry means solving problems with innovative solutions or explaining new technology concepts in engaging ways.” Typically, I initially emerge from the creation of new technological advancements.

Encourage others to think innovatively and experiment until they find solutions to the problems they want to solve. Providing mentorship materials like professional development books about their experience of becoming a leader in technology. The primary criteria for being a leader in the tech industry are contributing knowledge.

Collaborating with others to meet your technology goals is beneficial because it allows different professional strengths and disciplines to work together.

Use your decisive qualities when determining how to create new applications or identifying how to improve existing strategies. The ability to make decisions quickly is crucial in the tech industry because advancements are continuously being explored.

Motivate the team and inspire other tech leaders to continue working toward the technology advancements they want to create.

Being efficient and having strong time management skills helped in building efficiency and balancing all the work and tasks.

When asked about challenges he faced in his career path and how he overcame them, he said, “I never face any kind of tough challenges in my life. Yes, I do face many challenges which I overcome with abilities and a positive attitude towards life, but I never find them difficult when I wasn’t able to overcome them.” Challenges are a part of life. It depends on the person how they deal with them.

When asked about the challenges faced by IT leaders today while implementing digital technologies, he said that the major challenges faced by technology leaders today while implementing digital technologies are skilled resources, lack of organisational change management, evolving internal and external customer needs, ineffective data management, and inefficient business processes.

When asked how IT leaders can overcome the challenges faced, he said that hiring outside experts and software consultants to supplement your in-house team helps in managing the skilled resources. Focus on organisational change management helps prepare employees for what lies ahead. Instead of just focusing on the technical side of digital transformation, consider the people it directly affects by developing a comprehensive change management plan.  Rather than assuming you know which technologies your customers want you to provide, we recommend taking the time to perform market research and understand the customer’s needs better. Data is one of the pillars of digital transformation. With it, you can gain rich insights, preferences, and behaviours that help with potential future decisions. Putting in place a proper data management policy and cleaning of your data gives you a single source of truth. The ETL tool extracts the data from various data source systems, transforms it in the staging area, and then finally loads it into the data warehouse system. Establishing a new and efficient data process and standardising the existing process.

When asked about best practices, industry trends, or advice he would like to suggest to fellow technology leaders for their successful professional journeys, he said, “Today’s technology leaders play a pivotal role in helping their organisation respond to these forces of change.” In essence, they serve as conductors to orchestrate the three pillars of organisational success – people, processes, and technology – and to draw upon their unique view of the enterprise to bring these elements into harmony. Leading courageously, adopting cutting-edge technology and embracing technology platforms for growth are a few mantras that help tech leaders in their successful professional journeys.

He highlights that to become a successful technology leader, one must put people first, embrace emerging technology, have an eye on the big picture, build relationships, don’t be afraid to say no, calm in chaos, and focus on delivery. These are a few good characteristics of a good technology leader.
